Foil & Saber
Session 7: August 5 - 9
Foil & Saber
We teach all 3 types of Olympic fencing: epee, foil, saber and focus on one each week at camp. There is no ‘best’ one to start with and most skills learned in one translate to the others. We strongly encourage students to take more than one week of camp and try more than one type especially if they are interested in pursuing our ongoing fencing classes after camp. Summer camp is the time of year with the most opportunity for kids with no experience to try fencing.
Students learn footwork, bladework and fencing tactics in a fun and safe environment. In addition to drills and bouting they will participate in a variety of fencing activities and games to re-enforce the actions and strategies of fencing and to increase co-ordination and balance. This is an active camp, but fencing is not solely a physical sport and many kids enjoy the metal challenge it also has to offer.
The total cost for a 5 day camp is $330 paid in 2 payments: an $80 non-refundable deposit and a $250 balance. The total cost for a 3 day camp is $205 paid in 2 payments: a $80 non-refundable deposit and a $125 balance.
The non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration for each camp and the balance is due 3 weeks before the first day of camp. You will receive an invoice to pay the balance online. If you are signing up for a camp that is less than 4 weeks away the entire payment is due upon registration.
