Saturday Beginning/Intermediate Adult and Kids' Class
Instructors: George
Tidrick, Hannah Sutton
Starting March 21st, the Saturday Class
will have separate instruction for kids. Students 8-14 will
participate separate from adults with their own program. The kids'
class will run from 10:30-11:30 on the same days as the adult
classes. Students 12 and up have their choice to participate with
the kids or the adult group. The kids' class will be
instructed by Hannah Sutton.
The Salle Auriol Saturday class provides an alternative to
weekday classes. It is a mix of beginners and intermediate
students. All new fencers start together in a beginner group until
they've practiced enough fundamentals to join the intermediate
group.
The beginning group will learn all the basic techniques in
modern foil fencing. There will be an emphasis on knowledge and a
basic level of technical execution, along with learning some
history and rules. Beginners will also be exposed to a starting
level of physical conditioning.
After learning some fundamentals, beginners will join the
intermediate group. The intermediate group will learn the
additional techniques of the other weapons (Epee and Saber) along
with more advanced tactics and strategy. The intermediate fencers
will be challenged with higher levels of physical conditioning. The
specific goals and materials of the intermediate group will vary
based on the level and experience of the fencers in the group.
Saturday sessions are 2 months long (3 Saturdays per month.) The
current rate is $110 per session. This includes free use of club
gear. We will provide fencing masks, jackets, blades, and electric
equipment. The schedule varies based on holidays or other local and
club events.
Please wear appropriate athletic gear. This includes:
- A good pair of athletic shoes appropriate for gym or court
- Long sweat pants. Please - no shorts
- T-shirt / athletic shirt
- Also bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
