Maitre Leon Auriol
Foil, Epee, Saber
Maitre Auriol has been a fencing master for almost 50 years and is the namesake of our club. He is from Toulouse, France and moved to the US in the early 1960s. He is a past US National coach, US Pentathlon coach, Pan American Team coach, and Canadian (yes, Canadian!) Olympic coach. His students have many, many national and international medals to their credit, both individual and team. Maitre Auriol is a three weapon master (foil, epee, and saber) and teaches fencers of all ages.

Marshall Hibnes
Foil, Epee
Marshall is the President of Salle Auriol Seattle, serves as the Chair of Coaching Programs for the club and is a protege of Maitre Leon Auriol. Under the guidance of Maitre Auriol, Marshall has coached various Salle Auriol Seattle fencers to nine World Championships. Marshall's students have earned more than 150 national and international medals, including several National Championships. Marshall teaches foil and epee to youth, junior, and adult fencers.

| Charlie Sheffer
Foil
Charlie is the Director of Junior programs and Vice-Chair of coaching programs at Salle Auriol Seattle. Charlie is also a protege of Matire Leon Auriol. Charlie's students regularly appear on national points lists (all the way up to 4th in the nation) and have multiple national medals. Charlie was a member and anchor of Salle Auriol Seattle's gold medal 6-weapon team at the 1998 National Championships and a member of the silver medal men's foil team at the 2001 National Championships. Charlie teaches foil and specializes in youth and junior fencers but also teaches select adults.

| Aaron Goldsmid
Saber
Aaron is a former member of the US Cadet and Junior National teams in Saber. Aaron studied under Ukrainian and US Olympic coach Yury Gelman in New York. Aaron teaches saber to youth, junior and adult fencers.

| Bill Nary
Foil
Bill Nary has fenced competitively since 1996 in foil and coached foil
since 2000. He is a Division 3 foil national bronze medalist, and has
represented Salle Auriol Seattle at the national championships on
numerous men's foil teams. Bill focuses his coaching efforts on
beginning classes and training adult foil fencers for regional and
national competition.

| Mitch Kief
Foil, Epee
Mitch has been fencing at Salle Auriol since 1989 and teaching
beginning classes since 1992. Mitch likes working with beginning and
recreational fencers.

| Peet Sasaki
Foil, Epee
Peet Sasaki has fenced competitively since 1994 in foil, epee, and saber and coached foil and epee since 2000. He is a Division 3 foil national bronze medalist, Division 2 national silver medalist, two-time and current Western Washington three weapon champion, and has represented Salle Auriol Seattle at the national championships on numerous men's foil teams, including the 2001 silver medal team. Peet focuses his coaching efforts on training foil and epee fencers for regional and national competition from youth through adult ages.

| Russ Redding
Foil, Epee, Saber
Russ has over 35 years of fencing experience and is a member of Salle Auriol Seattle's Board of Directors. He has been the Washington State champion in foil, epee, and saber many times. In addition to competing, he teaches and coaches all three weapons. Russ is certified as a level four coach by the USFA Fencing Coaches College. Russ has worked as an assistant NCAA coach and has taught a number of collegiate and community fencing classes. He works with both recreational and competitive fencers of all ages, from youth to adult.

| Stewart Stremel
Foil, Epee, Saber
Stewart Stremel has fenced since 1989 in foil, epee, and saber.
Stewart has been coaching foil and saber since 1994 and epee since
2004. Stewart works with both recreational and competitive fencers of
all ages.

| George Tidrick
Foil
George Tidrick has started fencing 1999, and is actively competing in
foil and epee. He has coached foil since 2002. George coaches
the beginning and intermediate classes as well as training foil
fencers for recreational and competitive fencing.

| Wang Yung
Saber
Wang Yung started fencing sabre in 1969 in New York and has been
coached by five national coaches from various countries including
three US Olympic coaches. He has been on the US National Squad
spanning three decades and have been on seven US Teams including six
Veteran World Championships beginning in 2001. He holds three bronze
Veteran World Championship medals and was four times U.S Veteran
Champion. He has been ranked first in US rankings several times
including the 2007 Combined Veterans Men Saber. Wang has coached
medalist&nb sp;competing at national and international levels. He is
also successful with beginners. In 2006 and 2007 his fencers won US
National Championship medals after one and two years of fencing.
He is a nationally rated sabre referee and the highest ranking sabre
referee in Washington.
He holds a Moniteur level certificate to teach sabre from the US
Fencing Coaches Associaton.
